Year 3

Teams Meeting Timetable Letter

Any questions please email Mrs Jackson on s.jackson106@middlestonemoor.durham.sch.uk

Welcome to Year 3.

Our teacher is Mrs Jackson and our teaching assistant is Mrs Sains. Mrs Sains also takes the class on Fridays.

We begin our day with a morning starter to settle the children in while we do registration. Our mornings follow a very similar pattern with Maths first followed by English after break. Assemblies take place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Immediately after break, Year 3 go to the hall for Fit for Life which is 15 minutes of fun exercise. Everyone takes part—including the teachers—and it is a great way to get us warmed up for our next lesson which is English.

Before lunch we do a half hour whole class reading session which helps develop our reading skills and introduces the children to a wide range of different genres. This is sometimes our class book because in Year 3 we read some quite lengthy books that take time to complete, or it could also be a poem, play script or some non-fiction.

Straight after lunch, the children enjoy guided dance in the classroom with GoNoodle—which is a free website that children can access at home too! This helps to mentally and physically energise the children for our afternoon curriculum. Our afternoons are dedicated to our foundation subjects : Science, History, Geography, RE, Music, Computing, Art, D&T, French and PE.

We make sure that we have a 15 minute story time every day where the children can enjoy listening to their class book.

It is important that your child enjoys school and feels part of our class. Please contact me if you or your child have any questions or worries.
